Where does mustard hide?

Mustard is in dressings, mayonnaise, remoulade, marinades, sauces, sausages, cold cuts and spice mixes, and appears as mustard seed and mustard powder. It’s easy to miss, as it’s often a small part of a blend.

The 14 allergens that EU law requires on food labels must be emphasised in the ingredients list, usually in bold. When one is missing from the label, or has got into the food by mistake, the producer recalls it and the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration publishes the recall. “May contain traces of” is voluntary and doesn’t guarantee anything either way.
